Bonjour! I have always wanted to share with others a bit of my wonderful childhood spent in the South of France, so in 1999 I moved to New York
and set up shop in this beautiful landmark Chelsea building. We started off by recreating the warm and friendly atmosphere and casual elegance
that is the trademark of the southern European region. Floors were hand waxed and walls were painted a warm grey with accents of just the right sunny yellow, highlighting
the lovely garden view.
I decided to call the store "La Cafetiere" after an old coffee pot that used to be in our kitchen (now perched oven the entrance door); a constant reminder of comfort and warmth.
Working with color and style, we came up with a blend of old world traditional craftmenship and contemporary eclecticism, all combined to create the pleasant ambiance of a southern
French marketplace or antique fair.
Whether you know exactly what you are looking for or just wish to "changer d'air" and want to browse, I hope that the continually changing stock of the highest quality European home design
products will inspire and enchant you whenever you visit us.
A Bientot! - Madeleine
